Access Group Partners with ICON to Deliver PPE Solutions for Stage 3 in Ontario
TORONTO, ONTARIO, July 8, 2020 – Access Group Partners with ICON to Deliver PPE Solutions for Stage 3 in Ontario
Toronto-based technology solutions provider, Access Group, is partnering with ICON, a visual communications company based in Markham Ontario, to address issues across the retail landscape that have arisen due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since the start of the health crisis, ICON has repurposed its large format printing facility to manufacture a variety of PPE solutions including face shields, face masks, and social distancing graphics using its FDA-approved materials. Throughout Stage 1, ICON’s face shields received their MDEL license and were approved under the Interim Order of Canada to sell nationwide. Since then, they have been distributed to retailers across the country including Tim Hortons and Hudson’s Bay Company.
Stage 2 saw ICON develop an innovative queue management system to help solve one of the biggest challenges presented by COVID-19 – managing lineups while adhering to social distancing. Launched in May 2020, ICON Q is a contact-free solution that pairs RFID tags with digital signage to help retailers manage gatherings at store entrances, curbside pickups, and cash desks. Users simply use their smartphone to scan a QR code displayed at the retailer they’re visiting. The QR code can be displayed around the parking lot, store entrances, and even queues inside the store. Instead of waiting in a physical line, shoppers can optimize their time by continuing to shop or simply wait in their cars until notified by an SMS text message. Once notified, they can proceed to the front of the line. LCD or LED displays can also be set up at all queue locations to show who’s next in line and help minimize physical lines and maximize social distancing.
ICON provides 24/7 remote support from ICON’s network operations control centre and can customize the system for customers with their own unique branding and help design and manage content, scheduled playlists, and customer analytics.
“Looking at the effect that COVID-19 has had around the world, we wanted to find a way to help drive retail sales as local communities continue to re-open while adhering to new social distancing guidelines”, says Juan Lau, President & CEO of ICON. “We see products like the Q as an environmentally-friendly solution that not only cuts down physical lines for people and vehicles alike but to also enhance the shopping experience for shoppers. We’re excited to partner with Access to further expand our reach and to help more businesses across Canada re-open successfully as we move into Stage 3.”
